Mediterranean Cooking is now Social

It has cheese in it, somewhat soft, it is sweet, and it can look either way as it does in these pictures. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. :)

Hi Danielle,
These are called 7alewet l jeben. Very delicious. My sister's husband just bought a lebanese cooking book, I'll try to see if this recipe is there. I'm lucky that I live near a lebanese sweet bakary but of course they will never let me know the recipe.

Actually, I figured out what this dish is. it is called halawat el jibn, it is a sweet cheese that is eaten with a creamy custard and topped with simply syrup and pistachios. It is a wonderful dish and I will make it soon.

It is made with "smead" which is cream of wheat like grain (the outer layer) and the inner layer is cheese (using ricotta or ashta) rolled into this delicious desert covered with attar and pistachios. I will contact my sister in law for the recipe and post.

Probably, Im not really sure, but I want to try to make them as a sweet with cheese. Thanks though, that helps! I thought they were crepes too, just I got confused because the first top smaller picture it looks more soft than anything but I will take all ideas. Thanks again :)

Hello,
Well those look like crepes to me. Crepes are a French food, they are very think pancakes and can pretty much be filled with anything from chocolate to ham and cheese. Does this sound like what they are?
