Mediterranean Cooking is now Social

I finally found out what the dish is that I was looking for. It's a Jordanian dish called Keiskeya. The wife of the owner of the Mediterranean store where I tasted it, said that it was a recipe from her great grandmother! She gave me the recipe and the ingredients and even said that she would come over to my home to show me how to make it if I wanted! She also gave me her home phone number in case I wanted to try it on my own. More to come after I try to make it. How about that!

Oh, sounds interesting. WHat does the dish consist of? Is it a stew?

No, not a stew, but some kind of grain dish. You use Jameed (dried Yogurt) and cook it for awhile. You can buy a bag of liquid Jameed, which hurries the cooking process! Add 1/1/2 cups of barley that has been cooked. Also add whole bulb of garlic and some special spices sorta like curry. Then you dump in two cans of chickpeas and lightly cook a little longer. Can also use some lemon juice. When you serve it, drizzle with oil and serve with bread/pita. Am told it freezes well. I just loved it. Am making this today with my 4 year old granddaughter
