Hi Dede

Wonderful website for lebanese cuisine. Thank you for the amazinf videos which as so much better than just the recipes:-)
I have tried your other recipes before, but this time I faced a little problem:
I tried making Manaeesh Zaatar using your recipe for the pita bread. The zaatar mix I used was available in the super market. All I did was add olive oil. Although the Pita bread utrned out to be just the way I wanted i.e. lil soft, the Manaeesh zaatar was very bitter. Did I put of much of yeast? I think the zaatar mix was ok since it tasted fine before using it on the dough.

was it the dough that was bitter? Yeast does not make dough bitter so it must be the manaeesh. Did you add a little bit of salt and olive oil to the zaatar? Zaatar is a little bitter but usually when you add salt and olive oil, it smooths out the taste.
Hope this helps :)

Hi Dede,

You are absolutely a champ. I used to live in The Gambia in West Africa where there is a significant Lebanese population. I am not completely sure about your origin but during the time I lived in Gambia I have made some outstanding friends who I am still in touch with regularly. The part of the UK I live in does not have Lebanese restaurants etc so we end up eating a lot of Greek food which although the same but hey they dont make no Tabouleh or the Kibbeh, or Fatoush etc. My Lebanese friend is visiting me for two weeks tomorrow with his newly wed bride so I want to throw a lavish dinner around. I have already purchased all the stuff out here and to be fair it took me a good few weeks to collect. Two things I wanted to mention if you do not mind.
1) Is Canola Oil not same as Rapeseed Oil and simply geneticaly modified name grown and processed in Canada?

2) What the heck are you doing in that part of the world there is not one single online Med Grocery provider in the UK who does this, You are loosing a significant part of income if you ever wished to expand to this side of Atlantic.

Please do give this a proper thought will love to have you here (i mean the brand Dedemed)
Kindest Regards
Rakesh
